AOP Plus

Advanced Oxidation Technology for Aquaculture.

In aquaculture, different species of aquatic animals require habitats of different level of DO. The amount of oxygen needed by a prawn, shrimp or fish depends on its body surface. Approximately 4 mg/L or four parts of dissolved oxygen per million parts of water (4 ppm) is the minimum required for life processes in aquaculture water’s.

The equilibrium concentration of dissolved oxygen in open water is normally higher than that 9.2 ppm at 20 °C. But, the rate of dissolving oxygen in aquaculture ponds is dependent on the surface area accessible to the atmosphere, turbidity and presence of organic matter in the pond bottom.

Hemocyanin, a natural substance found in Black Tiger shrimp's and freshwater prawn’s blood cells, works as an oxygen carrier. Low dissolved oxygen conditions can produce hemolysis. This will lead to low oxygen availability in the body, resulting in weakness, lowered disease resistance, hypoxia and eventually death due to viral or bacterial infections.

Build up of organic wastes on pond bottoms negatively affects shrimp, prawn and fish culture operations. Breakdown of wastes results in the depletion of oxygen and the accumulation of reduced compounds such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide at the sediment - water interface. These conditions, by reducing water quality, are detrimental to health of aquaculture animals. So, the dissolving capacity of oxygen gets slow unless the water is deliberately treat to raise the dissolved oxygen levels in aquaculture ponds.

AOP Plus provides higher content of available oxygen, a higher dissolution rate into the water and have high heat stability.

The oxidative power of AOP Plus improves the cleanness of aquaculture ponds by removing waste organic flocks through breakdown and lessens the sludge build up.

Successful bioremediation depends on availability of Oxygen. Often the limiting factor of aerobic degradation of contaminants in aquaculture ponds is the availability oxygen. AOP Plus favour the process of bioremediation by providing adequate dissolved oxygen in aquaculture ponds, thereby reduces the need for water exchange.

AOP Plus by its excellent deodorizing performance eliminates malodor in the aquaculture ponds as well as the off-flavor from fish, prawn and shrimp.

AOP Plus plays a key role in the success of a zero water exchange system by neutralizing the effect of toxic compounds and improving overall water quality. Zero water exchange or Minimum water exchange improves biosecurity through reduced water intake and lessens environmental impacts through reduced water exchange.

Ultimate benefits of AOP Plus:
