Overview
TekBlok is a synergistic formulation to help raise healthy Shrimp and Fish.

TekBlok is an aid to reduce the infection rate and to lower mortality caused by various pathogens in Shrimp and Fish.

Challenges in Shrimp Aquaculture

• In shrimp aquaculture, the following diseases have spread rapidly throughout the world.
1. Vibriosis,
2. Enterocytozoan Hepatopenaei (EHP),
3. White Gut Syndrome (WGS)
4. White Feces Syndrome (WFS)
• These diseases are leading to mortality rates above 80% and making huge losses to the shrimp farming sector.
• In healthy and balanced environments WSSV, Vibrio and EHP do not cause any disease. Only when the animal gets weak, these pathogens attack the shrimp and become aggressive.
• In general, health of shrimp would be affected by many factors viz. - Enterocytozoan Hepatopenaei (EHP), Entero-Toxins - Vibrio sp., Mycotoxins - Poor feed quality, Algal Toxins or Low digestibility -Cyanobacteria etc. might be the possible reasons for White Faeces Syndrome.

The negative impact of Microbial Entero-Toxins on shrimp health

• In shrimp, the Vibrio sp. toxins can adversely affect health, leading to problems with increased susceptibility to infectious diseases like WSSV, WFS and altered zootechnical performance. This latter would affect on survival, growth and causes Running Mortality Syndrome (RMS) and white gut disease (WFS) and is a bio-indicator of the presence of enterotoxins.
• Mycotoxins can cause chronic diseases in aquatic animals and can have different effects including Hepatopancreatic-toxicity, Neurotoxicity, Immunotoxicity etc. Moreover, complete feed is made of different plant based raw materials. Mycotoxins are often present in these different raw materials. Thus, aquatic animals are generally not exposed to one mycotoxin but to several toxins at the same time and causes severe health hazards.
• The levels in microbial enterotoxins contamination causing a reduction in zootechnical performance in farmed shrimp is the serious problem in recent shrimp aquaculture.

Solution:
In any type of Aquaculture system shrimp and fish stock are naturally susceptible to viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections, particularly at times of stress. In the event of stress outbreak, stock can be managed effectively with unique zootechnical feed additive formulation - TekBlok.

• TekBlok have a positive effect on the intestinal integrity of shrimp, fish and a positive effect on the technical performance.
• Feeding the TekBlok to shrimp reduces the pathogen load, weakens the pathogen by starvation, improves innate-immunity, binds microbial entero-toxins in the gut, and thereby lowers infection rate and mortality caused by various pathogens.

TekBlok - Mode of action:
TekBlok is having different modes of action.

• The prime target of TekBlok is the bacterial cell membrane and the various essential processes that occur within and at the membrane.
• TekBlok can make the bacterial cell membrane porous or even solubilise the membrane in case of high concentration.
• TekBlok can impair the energy production of the cells caused by interference of the electron transport chain and disruption of the oxidative phosphorylation.
Other processes that may contribute to inhibition of bacterial growth or death can be caused by cell lysis, inhibition of enzyme activity or impaired nutrient uptake.

Synergistic effect of TekBlok
A synergistic effect is induced by the unique formulation of TekBlok with Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA), Phytogenic Bioactive Derivatives (PBD), diformates, toxin adsorbents and micro-ingredients along with a potentiating agent.

TekBlok is an effective formulation having with a wide range of antimicrobial property to inhibit the growth of all types of gut pathogens including fungi.

TekBlok is a unique formulation of natural origin ingredients to absorb and deactivate microbial toxins in the gut of shrimp and to decrease microbial toxins bioavailability, uptake as well as distribution to the blood and target organs in the shrimp.

The regular use of TekBlok starting from day one through feeds would effectively inhibit Running Mortality Syndrome (RMS) and White Faeces Syndrome (WFS) in shrimp aquaculture.
