As the world continues to grapple with the uncertainty surrounding the spreading of COVID-19 and its growing impact on stock markets, supply chains, and other pillars of the global economy, it’s important to remember that this event is first and foremost about people - their families, their well-being, and the organizations and institutions that they rely on and trust in times of need.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has hit all states in India, the number of cases is rising every day. None of us can predict the true impact of the pandemic on our economy, but at this pivotal moment, there are clear choices to be made. The way in which Neospark do its work at this time will be a critical factor in our organization’s ability to emerge from the current crisis and push forward into a new era of economic recovery and opportunity for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Neospark decided and implemented all necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees as well as the continuity of our operations. These measures are adapted according to the spread of the pandemic and the recommendations of the WHO, National and the State Authorities.

Lockdown

It’s critical for Neospark to be strong and resilient so they can serve the people who depend on them for products, services, and livelihoods.

As a mission to implement the necessary preventive and cautionary measures to protect the employees and to limit the spread of the COVID-19, all Neospark production sites, Central warehouse, Regional warehouse and Head Office in Hyderabad are shut-down immediately after the announcement of Lockdown.

Our priority is the health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we live and work. Neospark has all the required stamina to preserve, to endure, to be resilient in aftermath of this pandemic.

Crisis Management
Mitigation measures followed :
  • Neospark has defined communication plans for employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Neospark scheduled meetings or calls among members of the management team on a periodic basis to evaluate the current situation.
  • Neospark set up business continuity and recovery plans based on several scenarios.
People Management
Mitigation measures followed:

Neospark monitored the status of every employee in the organisation on the following parameters:

  • Where they are currently situated
  • Their health status
  • Their current activity status
  • Disclosure of their family members' health issues
  • Daily monitoring (across all locations).
  • A thermal check-up /scanning at the entry point for all employees.
  • Ask employees to track all contact with co-workers.
  • Policy pertaining to work from home
  • Restricted non-essential travel and promote flexible working arrangements.
  • Communicated personal hygiene good practices to employees and educated them on social distancing measures.
  • Provided masks, wipes, and other personal hygiene products to on-site employees.
Contamination from employees returning from a tour/restricted zone
Mitigation measures followed :
  • Enforced / Implemented the 14-day quarantine for employees returning from a restricted zone or a state.
  • Permit access to production floor only after 14-day home quarantine is completed.
Inadequate availability of manpower due to absenteeism spikes
Mitigation measures followed :
Plant operations:
  • Prepared a roster of employees operating in the plant, keeping in mind risk assessment, location proximity, health reports, and production line requirements.
  • Provided a production plan based on critical products to serve the market and focus on the domestic market (as the export market may face dispatch issues).
  • Provided letters for employees who must travel and require a transport vehicle and drivers.
  • Classified business activities as mission-critical (critical activities that need to be completed during lockdown) and others.
  • Prepared and effectively communicate a detailed work chart of activities, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Ensured that all payments and collection transactions are done electronically, and that bank transfer details are collected and updated for all electronic transfers.
Contract employee health issues
Mitigation measures followed :

Restricted contractor access to plant or office operations. In case of contractor access is inevitable,

  • Confirmed from third parties/vendors that no employees are infected, and measures are being taken to detect the virus.
  • Set up thermal scanning/check-up at all entry points.
  • Obtained declaration that staff has not been forced to come to work under the current scenario.
Plant and warehousing operations
Mitigation measures followed :
  • Identified and prioritised the critical products to be manufactured as per customer/government requirements.
  • Planned to maximise capacities in plants.
  • Evaluated the allocation of available labour between production shifts to maintain the safety and wellbeing of workers.
  • Prioritised scheduled maintenance activity
Contamination of workplace
Mitigation measures followed :
  • Prepared SOP w.r.t. COVID-19, which states the additional steps that need to be taken to ensure sanitisation.
  • Advised routine cleaning of all frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, keyboards, telephones, handrails, and doorknobs.
  • Discouraged workers from using other’s phones, desks, offices, or other work tools and equipment, when possible. If necessary, clean and disinfect them before and after use.
  • Provided disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces such as doorknobs, keyboards, remote controls, desks, other work tools and equipment can be wiped down before each use.
Contamination at the warehouse
Mitigation measures followed :
  • Frequently sanitised all warehouses and hubs with appropriate disinfectants.
  • Checked all warehouse employees for symptoms of being unwell, and thermally scan all employees at entry.
  • Ensured all employees handling our products wear face masks and gloves.
Inadequate social distancing
Mitigation measures followed :

To increase social distancing among employees,

  • Extended lunch hours.
  • Staggered lunch hours by department.
  • Increased the area required for the canteen.
  • Demarcated seating/standing areas in the canteen with adequate distance.
  • Provided cleaning staff with the required dress.
