Coccidiosis is a serious protozoan disease of young flock upto 10 weeks of age and caused by Eimeria Species but commonly E. tenella (Ceacal) and E. necatrix are harmful. It is common in birds reared in deep litter system. A disease outbreak occurs in warm and humid climate and damp litter condition.

Transmission through the inhalation or ingestion of Sporulated oocysts. Signs include, Depression, weakness, ruffled feathers, Reduced feed consumption, Bloody diarrhoea, soiling of vent, Loss of body condition, Poor egg production, Pale comb and wattles due to anemia, finally death.

Disease can be prevented by coccidiostat, Hygiene, Vaccine and Genetics.
