Fowl pox disease is skin disease caused due to avipoxvirus which affect all age groups of birds. Disease has considerable economic importance.

Transmission includes skin breaks, direct contact, aerosol, visitors and mosquitoes.

Fowl pox disease has two forms 1. Cutaneous or skin form (Dry pox), and 2. Diphtheritic form (Wet pox). Symptoms in dry pox is lesions appeared on the unfeathered skin of the head, neck, legs and feet and in wet pox lesions are present in the upper respiratory and digestive tracts (small white nodule).

Disease can be prevented by vaccination and disinfection. Antimicrobials are required to control the secondary bacterial infections. Measures to boost the immune system of the birds will hasten the recovery.
