Milk Feveris a Metabolic disorder in which the blood calcium level of the animal drops leading to decreased milk production, weakness, inappetence, partial or complete loss of consciousness, paralysis, reproductive problems and other complications. Milk fever is a disorder that usually occurs around calving time and is most prevalent in older, high producing cows.

An animal affected with milk fever exhibits a decreased appetite and an inactive digestive tract. The animal will show signs of being dull, listlessness and uncoordinated when walking, the ears will be cold, and nose dry. A decrease in body temperature is common, usually ranging from 960F to 1000F.
