Wing Rot is a disease caused due to Clostridium spp., Staphylococcus Spp. and E. coli, either singly or in combination. This disease mostly affects over 4 weeks age but also affect up to 18 weeks. Occurrence is more common in warm and humid condition. Mortality ranges from 1-60%. Poor management is also main cause for wing rot.
Symptoms include depressed, loss of appetite, leg weakness, incoordination of movement and die within few hours. Post mortem findings involves putrefied smell from carcass which decompose rapidly, skin and tissue of body (wings, flanks, thighs) are very dark, moist, devoid of feathers and extensive sloughing. There is blood tinged watery fluid under the skin. Kidney, heart, liver and lung congested.
Disease can be controlled by proper sanitation and disinfection.
Treatment with antibiotics and supplementation Vitamins and mineral will reduce symptoms and mortality.
