AscoSol-C is a stable form of coated Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) formulated for use in Poultry.
AscoSol-C helps to reduce stress and stress induced problems such as poor immunity, reduced feed intake, poor weight gain, oxidative stress and mortality in birds.
The ability of the bird to synthesize vitamin C is negatively affected during periods of stress including low or high environment temperature, Relative Humidity, high production, challenges by pathogens and parasites. Vitamin C plays a major role in the cellular antioxidant defence system and favours regeneration of reduced glutathione from its oxidised form in the cytoplasm.
Vitamin C and Stress:
Vitamin C plays an important part in alleviation of heat stress and restoration of optimal metabolism in birds. Vitamin C is involved in the production of white blood cells and thus enhances immune status of birds. Thermoregulation in birds involves the role of vitamin C.
In practice AscoSol-C is very effectively used in poultry which are exposed to different stress factors, such as high ambient temperature, high humidity, abrupt feed or water deprivation, vaccination, disease, parasites, nutritional imbalances, moulting, debeaking, handling, noise, overly intensive lighting, high stocking density, re-housing, poor air-quality.
Vitamin C on Growth and Livability:
Growth: At normal ambient temperatures, additional vitamin C leads to higher performance with fattening poultry. When the birds were subjected to heat stress, a significantly better growth rate after stress phase was noted by supplementing the birds with vitamin C.
Livability: The effect of the vitamin C supplement on livability is very distinct in high ambient temperatures. Considerable reduction in mortality was observed in birds supplemented with vitamin C compared to those that did not receive supplementation at high environmental temperatures.
Vitamin C and Laying performance:
Vitamin C supplementation helps in the improved performance of laying hens. There was a marked improvement in the performance of layers, especially in high environmental temperatures.
Vitamin C and Egg quality:
Capability of hens to produce eggshells depends essentially on the availability of calcium from bones. Vitamin C stimulates 1,25 dihydroxy cholecalciferol and increases calcium mobilization from bone. It has been found that vitamin C supplementation reduces calcium excretion in low ambient temperature and could reduce shell defects and improve shell quality
Vitamin C and fertility:
Vitamin C has a favourable effect on fertility. Adding ascorbic acid to the feed of broiler breeders resulted in distinctly improved laying performance with greater persistence. Eggshell quality, fertility and hatchability were favourably influenced by vitamin C supplementation.
