Metabolism and Growth
Birds require substantial amounts of energy for the growth of muscle tissue and for production of eggs. The metabolic supportive components (MSC) in SSG improve metabolism and health status of birds by stimulating feed intake, improving liver & muscle function and homeostasis.

Cyanocobalamin
Cyanocobalamin acts as a cofactor in energy metabolism and is responsible for the speed of the Krebs cycle and gluconeogenesis. It serves as a co-factor to enzymes important in fatty acid synthesis, stimulates haematogenesis and nucleic acid synthesis. Cyanocobalamin is involved in creatine (energy source for muscle) and acetylcholine (neurotransmitter) biosynthesis, improves methionine biosynthesis and feed conversion rate.
Taurine
Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid, derived from biosynthesis in methionine and cysteine metabolism. Taurine exerts good antioxidant properties through inhibition of lipoxygenase & prostaglandin synthetase activities and reduction of lipid peroxidation in cells. Taurine also increases antioxidant enzyme activity and scavenges reactive oxygen Species (ROS).
Taurine is biologically active and reduces disorders of fat metabolism and lipid accumulation in the liver. Dietary taurine supplementation improves feed efficiency in the first week, enhanced ADG, decreased feed-to-gain ratio and improved growth performance of broiler chickens.
Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS)
Mannan Oligosaccharides (MOS) are cell wall derivatives of saccharomyces cerevisiae. MOS help to beneficially alter the intestinal microflora and positively modulates the immune system in the intestinal lumen. MOS potentially enhance growth rate, feed conversion efficiency and livability in broilers and to increase egg production in layers.
The beneficial microbiota development and establishment of eubiosis play an important role in the mechanisms of defense in the body and gut health as well. MOS is noted to increases the ratio of villous height and crypt depth in birds and remarkably enhance the nutrients apparent digestibility.
Liver supportive action of Bile acids
Bile acids are essential for digestion and absorption of fat and fat-soluble vitamins in the small intestine. Bile acids are facial amphipathic as they contain both hydrophobic (lipid soluble) and polar (hydrophilic) faces.
The amphipathic nature enables bile acids to carry out two important functions:
- Emulsification of lipid aggregates:
Bile acids have detergent action on particles of dietary fat which causes fat globules to break down or be emulsified into minute, microscopic droplets. Emulsification greatly increases the surface area of fat, making it available for digestion by lipases, which cannot access the inside of lipid droplets. - Solubilization and transport of lipids in an aqueous environment:
Bile acids are lipid carriers and are able to solubilize many lipids by forming micelles, that remain suspended in water. Bile acids are also critical for transport and absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins.
Bile acids facilitate intestinal calcium absorption. At the intestinal level, bile acids are known to modulate pancreatic enzyme secretion and cholecystokinin release. Moreover, they are potent antimicrobial agents that prevent bacterial over-growth in the small bowel.
