UltrOx / LA

Long acting Oxytetracycline

Description:
UltrOx/LA Injectable Solution contains 200 mg of Oxytetracycline Dihydrate equivalent to anhydrous oxytetracycline per ml in 2-pyrrolidone vehicle system that has been shown to result in sustained oxytetracycline blood levels over a three to five days period in cattle, pigs, buffaloes, sheep, goats and deers following a single intramuscular injection at 1 ml/10 kg body weight. This dosage rate also has been shown to result in high oxytetracycline blood levels within thirty minutes post injection in cattle, pigs and sheep, and these high levels are maintained for eight to twelve hours depending on the species.

In poultry and rabbits, administration of a single subcutaneous injection at a dosage rate of 0.25 ml/kg body weight has been shown to provide similar sustained oxytetracycline levels over a three-day period, high initial levels within thirty minutes post injection and maintenance of these high levels over the initial 12-hour period.

In young piglets under 10 kg, the subcutaneous route is preferred.

UltrOx/LA Injectable Solution displays remarkable physical properties and is superior to some of the more dilute Oxytetracycline injectable formulations in terms of viscosity, freezing point and syringeability. Post injection irritation and tissue toleration at the injection site is acceptable.

Composition:
Each ml contains 200 mg of Oxytetracycline Dihydrate I.P equivalent to anhydrous oxytetracycline in 2-pyrrolidone vehicle system.

Indications:
UltrOx/LA Injectable Solution is recommended wherever prolonged antibiotic therapy or prophylactic activity is expected and where, for practical, economic or veterinary reasons, frequent animal handling and repeat dosing is not feasible.

Cattle and Buffaloes: For the treatment of anaplasmosis, pneumonia, H.S. (shipping fever complex), leptospirosis, foot-rot, diphtheria, systemic mastitis, black quarter, bacterial enteritis, actinobacillosis, navel/joint ill, heartwater, dermatophilosis, wound infection and pinkeye and for chemoprophylaxis in bovine Theileriosis.

Pigs: For the treatment of pneumonia, leptospirosis, erysipelas, systemic mastitis, bacterial enteritis, navel / joint ill and wound infections.

Sheep: For the treatment of pneumonia, enzootic abortion (Bedsoniasis) blackleg, foot rot, systemic mastitis, metritis, navel/joint ill, heartwater and wound infections. Aids in the control or prevention of post-operative and post-parturient infections.

Goats: For the treatment of pneumonia, systemic mastitis, foot rot, mycoplasmosis, heartwater and wound infections.

Deers: For the prevention and treatment of yersiniosis.

Poultry: (Broiler breeders, Broiler chickens, Turkeys): For the prevention and treatment of infections susceptible to oxytetracycline, including Fowl Cholera, C.R.D. and C.C.R.D.

Administration & Dosage:
UltrOx/LA Injectable Solution is used at the following recommended dose rates.

Cattle, Buffaloes, Sheep, Goats, Pigs and Deers: Single treatment of 1 ml/10 kg body weight by deep intramuscular injection.

Poultry and Rabbits: Single treatment of 0.25 ml/kg body weight by subcutaneous injection.

Normally a single treatment will be sufficient for susceptible usual diseases. Severe infections may require second dose on 3rd to 5th day following the initial injection.

Special Directions:

Cattle and Buffaloes
Administer 1 ml / 10 kg by deep intramuscular injection into the fleshy part of the muscle such as the rump, thigh or neck.

To minimize local tissue irritation at the injection site, it is recommended that the dosage be divided and administered into separate injection sites.

Caution:
UltrOx/LA Injectable Solution is not to be diluted with any other injection like normal saline, dextrose or sterile water nor administered concurrently together with vaccines or tonics.

Pigs:
In piglets weighing less than 2 kg bodyweight, do not administer more than 0.5 ml per animal and do not administer parenteral iron on the same day. In pigs weighing upto 10 kg, administer 1 ml per animal.

Sheep, Goats and Deers: Administer 1 ml/10 kg bodyweight by deep intramuscular injection at one site. In animals over 50 kg it is recommended that the dose be divided and administered into two injection sites.

Poultry and Rabbits:

Warning:

  • Use only in cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, pigs, deers, rabbits and poultry.
  • Store below 300C.
